– [Dalvin] Apple regularly updates its iPhone operating system… – Oh, wow. – Isn't that cool? – I didn't know you could do that. – [Dalvin] …with tricks
you may have to stumble upon to know about. I wrote a story about
several of them recently, and a lot were new with iOS 17. – This is as close as I can go. – This is so crazy. – What if I talked in normal? – It sounds like you're
screaming in my ear. (both laugh) – [Dalvin] I'll walk
you through 10 features. – Hey, Dalvin, can you hear me? – Hey, how's it going? Ever been on a call with someone who sounds like they're in
the middle of an action film? Hidden in the phone's Control Center menu is a magical feature that
can remove background noises. – Can you turn on Voice Isolation? – [Dalvin] When you're on a call, pull from the top right
corner of the screen to see the Control Center.
Tap the mic mode button
and select Voice Isolation. – Oh yeah, sure. One sec. Let me try that.
– Check in, check out. Do you- (light music) How is that, is that any better? – Wow, that is so much better. Oh my God. – Oh, really?
– Yeah. It's not perfect. Sometimes it amplifies
the wrong person's voice, but it usually does a good job. – I'm gonna actually head out. Whenever you need to exchange
contact information… – Can I get your number? – NameDrop is faster
than punching in numbers. Not like that. – Unlock two iPhones running iOS 17. Hold them together and watch the magic. – Whoa, I didn't know you'd do that. – Research shows that a lot of people who have mild hearing loss
don't seek out hearing aids, but there's an AirPods
feature that may help. Live Listen lets someone
place an iPhone on a table, for instance, and the voices it picks up will stream directly to
the person's AirPods. – This is as low as I can possibly go. It's kind of scary. – Oh my God. I can hear you.
Even when you're that low, it just sounds like you're right here. And I don't have great hearing, so… – With AirPods connected, open the iPhone's Control
Center, tap the ear icon, then select the Live Listen button. Here's another neat one. You no longer have to
text and call everyone to confirm that you've
made it home safely. Now your iPhone can do the job. Simply tap the plus button on
the left side of the text box, then tap more and check in. (light music) (door creaking) When you arrive, your iPhone
notifies your loved ones that you've made it. Cool. – Spotify has more than twice as many US users as Apple Music. Finally, Apple Music added something that people have loved about
Spotify for a long time, collaborative playlists. It allows two or more
people to add, reorder, and remove songs in a shared
playlist on Apple Music, and here's how to set one up. In library, select playlists,
tap new playlist, and create. Press the invitation icon at the top, then follow the prompts
to text others a link.
Hey Chris, how are you? If you have an Apple TV 4K
second generation or newer, you can launch a FaceTime call on the biggest screen in the house. The Apple TV can't do
this without your iPhone, and they both need to be
on the same Wi-Fi network. – I'm good. How are you doing? – [Dalvin] If your family
member needs a password, but you don't feel comfortable texting or emailing it to them, try creating a secure
shared password group.
Just go to your iPhone
settings, hit passwords, create a new shared group. You can name it anything, and then add people
from your contact list. They get an invitation to
join your password group and can add their own logins. Remember, password sharing
can pose security risks, so be sure to use complex
and unique passwords for each of your accounts. ♪ I wanna be like you ♪ – Have you ever wanted to listen to the same thing as your friend… What are you listening to? …but you don't wanna stick
their gross earbud in your ear? No way. Not with that. I have a better idea. Try SharePlay. You can hold your AirPods
or Beats earphones near their iPhone and
tap the share button. Then you both can listen to
audio through your own earbuds. – Whoa. – Great. ♪ You and I know that's
just another one… ♪ (phone dings) – [Dalvin] Ever got one of these even though your devices are with you? (Dalvin groans) If this happens to you,
here's what you should do. In the Find My app, just pick the item that's
giving you too many alerts. You can adjust its settings
so it won't alert you when you leave your
pair at home or at work.
Now for the last tool. A couple tweaks can help
anyone nail a photo. Why are you holding it so crooked? – What do you mean? First, go into settings, tap camera, and switch on the level. Now you'll see a white line turn yellow when the shot is straight. Now watch the white line. Make it yellow. Line it up. Great. To make sure no one's
left out of a group photo, set a timer. For more flexibility, use an Apple Watch to remotely trigger the camera shutter. – Wow, that actually worked. – It's these little things
that can make our iPhones more than just phones, while enhancing our
other Apple gadgets, too. They can be extensions
of our personalities and allow us to do ordinary
things, only better.
– [Rami] Oh my God. – That's crazy. (light music).
