uh today let's go outside here let's go back to earlier today and there we go having fun at a slow uh Pace there around 5 miles hour kiddos having a good time neighborhood streets still look like that so if you're going to be out about in the morning remember the ground is still relatively warm so we're getting melting underneath the snow we're getting some sunshine so that snow just kind of melts a little bit and then it freezes quickly as the sun set so whatever you saw today that might have been a little slush or a little water yeah it's all ice so watch out for that coming up tomorrow morning on your morning walk or whatever you're going to be doing there will be slick spots in the morning Jed and Lacy will have the very latest starting right here on news9 at 4:00 a.m.
Right trackers will be out we're ready to go okay parking lots not good main highways are good they're great be careful the big refreeze it's it's happened uh any water or against slush now it's all ice again you you saw earlier today I watch sidewalks driveways parking lot stairs patios whatever um so just remember early on uh in the morning sun will come up tomorrow and we'll see a little sunshine we'll melt a little more away tonight a little bit in the way of some flurries and light snow across Northern Oklahoma uh it's weakening it's dying we might have a flurry or two here in Oklahoma City but all of this is again to our North and U it kind of just going away right A Little Closer shot in the Northwest light snow a few flurries up around Woodward and Buffalo the last couple of hours here's nextg live notice how this just kind of just goes away so the system is really really kind of dying out now the weekend snow okay yeah here we go interstates are good but uh once again parking lots yeah but I went over earlier so some slick spots though on the secondary streets the main highways uh you're in pretty good shape we had about an inch and a half of snow in Oklahoma City on Sunday that was yesterday Northern Northeastern Oklahoma had two to three to 4 inches of snow but tonight pretty quiet out there band of cloud cover moving through with the back edge of this storm system system little jet stream overhead but that'll be gone here quickly eight8 above zero8 above zero we didn't even come close to that last winter a North Wind still at 17 look at the windshield right now 10 below zero that's the windshield right now in Oklahoma City so in the morning it'll be yeah close to 15 below zero okay seven in gri 10 in buyers seven in eleno uh we've had pipe bursting temperatures continuously for the last couple of days so keep the faucets dripping if you had that thing going don't don't stop uh remember you got to let it run a little bit not just drip drip will freeze all right you got to have a little stream going on both the hot and the cold all right so how about a six right now in Ponka City four in Woodward 13 down in ardore look at the wind here at 10:15 right North winds 10 to 20 miles per hour so with that what's that do for us yeah nine below in pona City 15 below in G and again 10 below in Oklahoma City so those windshields will be about like that for that uh early morning all right so the jet stream coming out of the Polar Arctic Circle down into the US basically the warm air is so far south it's gone winter storm to our East that's our storm of yesterday and these cold temperatures look at Corpus right now they're at 30 26 in Houston and they had ice down there today but from Oklahoma 11 below in North Plat 11 below in Rapid City Denver's at 9 below zero and he just keeps getting colder so this hangs through Oklahoma through tonight through tomorrow through tomorrow night through Wednesday morning and then by Wednesday afternoon we get a break but it's not going to last long because the jet stream is still out of the North so we get another shot of cold air there's the polar vortex and uh again it's just an area of low pressure that usually is farther north as it starts to weaken in January and February it starts to come South and as it does it drags everything with it and that includes the Arctic and polar air next storm by the way so we will be turning colder Thursday a lot colder Friday and Saturday highs in the 20s not as cold as this and then our system for Sunday and Sunday night really Sunday night into Monday and Tuesday maybe a two or three day deal might begin as ice okay wind chills in the morning again 10 to 15 below zero we get better for the afternoon and the wind chills for Wednesday morning uh in the single digits all right so tonight a few flurries around not a big deal no problems low tonight two Below in Ponka City two Below in ALA two above in Oklahoma City these are all near record low temperatures Northwest Breeze overnight dangerous wind chills tonight and tomorrow morning highs tomorrow better than the last what three or four days back to the 20s right and uh for Wednesday finally by midday 30s and 40s for highs turning colder Thursday and a lot colder at as we get into Friday Friday's highs in the 20s Saturday's in the 20s we try to get back above freezing on Saturday but here comes the rain possibly ice stay stay tuned Sunday night into Monday into Tuesday Wednesday of next week hopefully we get above the freezing Mark that's the plan and we see just a cold rain we'll be tracking that and talking more about it here we go Colby back to you
