Fire Station #6 Groundbreaking | Feb. 2024

You all ready to toss some dirt? In 2007, we acquired the property that the new Fire Station 6 is going to sit on. We purchased that, its approximate 1.71 acres, which is a fairly small amount of land for a fire station. But the way it's laid out, we can definitely make that work the architect that we use for Fire Station 2, that we opened in 2020, we used the same group of architects for this construction build. It was a very successful build station to and we're excited to be able to bring them back on board and have them develop this one for us too.

I say we've been working with them already for about 18 months, putting on paper. And so we're all excited about getting that dirt turned and starting to see that structure go up. We are thrilled to have the new fire department number six and north West Edmond. As you know, Edmond is growing and as it grows, the needs for the emergency departments, services also grows.

And the fact that we can now have a fire department in that area to help to keep those folks safe is just an incredible asset to our community. and I just can't think of anything better to go out there in that location so our proximity to Cross Timbers Elementary, which is just to the south of where the new fire station location is going to be, is going to work out really good for us and the school system. We anticipate there being quite a few station tours this school and kids can walk over and we're really hoping that that materializes even more and becomes more of a reality when we get that station open We know that that's one of our most populous areas, too. And looking at our response times and our travel times, we know that there was a there was a little bit that area was lacking and it really was needed to have a fire station there.

We knew this, you know, many, many years ago. That's when we purchased that land in 2007. So it's a great time for us to be building that and putting that together so the citizens around there will see us more activity, of course, more fire trucks and much, much quicker response times. We really do expect it to save lives..
