all right thanks Matt local law enforcement getting out in the community today raising money and awareness for the Special Olympics news 9's Cameron join our caught up with ocpd as it joined dozens of Metro agencies in a polar plunge this weather doesn't exactly scream let's go for a swim but that's what hundreds of Law Enforcement Officers did Saturday morning but this Polar Plunge has a much bigger cause one very special to the Oklahoma City Police Department freezing for a reason yeah it is cold but we'll make it okay that was the motto Saturday at the annual law enforcement torch run Polar Plunge absolutely absolutely Oklahoma City CSI they will investigate your scene chicken shave PD y'all chick deputy chief Brian Jennings is with the Oklahoma City Police Department and the state director for L and this year we got almost 500 jumpers registered to jump so I think it's a record number it's one of their biggest fundraisers of the year we have the top fundraisers we have the best costume we just make it a fun event and definitely their coldest it's cold for about one second then everything becomes numb and you just kind of move on so but Jennings says it's all for a good cause we raised um a lot of money and a lot of awareness too and so we're very proud of it the law enforcement torch run benefits Special Olympics Oklahoma with a special Olympic athletes it's a special bond we have with law enforcement there's a natural relationship he says officers look forward to spending time with the athletes they just are always happy they're always want to come hug you how can you not just like that many athletes present Saturday cheering on the officers as they took their Polar Plunge so that's what it's all about in Oklahoma City camon Joiner Oklahoma's home news9
