KOCO IS ALEX JONES. TALK WITH THEM ABOUT HOW THEY ARE TRYING TO SAVE AS MANY LIVES AS POSSIBLE. HUNDREDS OF DOGS LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME THIS HOLIDAY SEASON. THE ANIMAL SHELTER SAYS THAT THEIR 150% OVER CAPACITY AND DOGS LIKE THESE ONES ARE READY TO BE ADOPTED. ALL DOGS ABOVE 40 POUNDS ARE FREE TO ADOPT. AND WE HAVE SEVERAL $30 SPECIAL ADOPTION FEES AS WELL. FEES WAIVED. IN AN EFFORT TO HELP THESE DOGS FIND A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. OUR SHELTERS, DESIGNED TO HOLD ABOUT 300 DOGS. AND AS OF THIS MORNING, WE WERE ABOUT 450. AS THE SHELTER PREPARES TO CLOSE FOR THREE DAYS. WHEN WE'RE AT THIS KIND OF CAPACITY, EUTHANASIA BECOMES A CONCERN AND SOMETHING THAT WE WE EVENTUALLY HAVE NO CHOICE. BUT TO DO BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE SPACE. WE REALLY NEED OUR COMMUNITY'S HELP TO TRY TO TRY TO REDUCE THAT. THEY SAY IF YOU AREN'T READY TO ADOPT, THERE'S ALSO HOLIDAY FOSTERING OPTIONS. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO OVER THESE HOLIDAY BREAKS, AND WE KNOW WE'RE GOING TO BE CLOSED FOR SEVERAL DAYS, IS WE LET PEOPLE COME IN, THEY CAN ACTUALLY DO A HOLIDAY FOSTER AND ACTUALLY TAKE THE ANIMAL FOSTERING FOR A FEW DAYS.

AND WHEN WE OPEN BACK UP, YOU JUST BRING THEM BACK, HE SAYS. FOSTERING HELPS DOGS WHO'VE BEEN IN THE SHELTER FOR MONTHS FEEL LOVED AND SOMETIMES A LOT OF TIMES WE SEND THEM ON THESE HOLIDAY TRIPS AND THEN THEY DON'T. THEY END UP FINDING THEIR.
